The Network have been engaged by our Federal Government client to support with sourcing an experienced Identity Engineer. On offer is a 12-month contract with 1 extension and outstanding hourly rates and hybrid working options.

About the Opportunity
As the Identity Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, supporting, and continuously improving enterprise identity and access management solutions that ensure secure, reliable, and compliant access to systems and data across the organisation.
You will also work closely with security, infrastructure, application, and business teams to deliver identity services, integrate applications, automate administrative processes, and maintain strong authentication, authorisation, and governance controls in line with organisational and security requirements.

About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering and supporting identity platforms across technologies such as Active Directory, Entra ID, federation, and synchronisation services, ensuring reliable and consistent access management across the organisation.
You will configure and manage authentication and authorisation controls for enterprise and cloud applications, including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), conditional access policies, and identity lifecycle management.
Additionally, you will drive automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging scripting and tooling to enhance service reliability, operational efficiency, auditability, and compliance, while also supporting troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing platform uplift activities.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will bring over 5 years of experience working as an Identity Engineer, with a strong track record of implementing and supporting enterprise identity solutions across Active Directory Domain Services, Active Directory Federation Services, and Entra ID (Azure AD). This experience will be supported by relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience.

You will have demonstrated experience operating in hybrid identity environments at enterprise scale, with hands-on involvement in application integration, directory synchronisation, authentication frameworks, and access policy implementation. Exposure to technologies such as Active Directory Domain Services, Active Directory Federation Services, Azure AD Connect, Entra ID, and certificate management is essential.

You will also have proven experience leveraging scripting, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code to manage and enhance identity platforms, with a focus on improving repeatability, operational efficiency, and audit outcomes.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are critical, including the ability to investigate incidents, resolve authentication and access issues, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to restore services effectively.
Finally, you will possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across geographically dispersed teams and clearly translate technical concepts into meaningful insights for business, security, and operational stakeholders.
